I'm not sure if this means I'm overly optimistic, or overly pessimistic.  Today, I decided to surprise my husband by taking in the trash cans.  After I wheeled our empty garbage bin in from the street, I went back out to the street to get the recycle bin.  I checked under the recycle bin's lid and noticed it was half-empty.  For some odd reason, I took that as a good sign and promptly dragged it down the driveway towards the side of our house.  When I got to the side door, I remembered that half-empty meant it was still half-full, which meant that the city hadn't picked it up yet and it should still be in the street.  I took a deep breath, checked to make sure the painters across the street weren't  watching, and then wheeled the recycle bin back out to the street.

So the question remains, was I being an optimist because I considered half-empty a good thing, or a pessimist because, when I looked inside the can, I immediately saw it as half-empty? ...  Or does this simply mean that my brain is half-empty?  ...  Or perhaps, that I should leave "men's work" for the men, and let my husband handle all garbage from now on...  Anyway I look at it, I don't think it's a good thing...  Hmmm...  I guess that means I'm a pessimist.
